Raw charm for Gurugram studio apartment
Gurgaon-based Nitin Kohli Home designed the designer’s studio apartment, which features a local color palette of brick red, ash grey and ocean blue. Spread across 11 sq. ft. area, the project has a living area, dining room, open kitchen, dresser, study powder room, and master suite. Minimum furniture complements the life of the well-traveled interior designer and his three cats.
Large multi-functional furniture made of concrete, brick, and wood add warmth, while sophisticated elements add a refined coolness. A blue plush sofa is a centerpiece in the living room fitted with a modern television set and modern fireplace. A patch of bricks on the wall, a brick base for the center table, a wood-and-wrought-iron bench, and a brown rug add a charming rawness to the space.
Optimum utilization of space is ensured by the open kitchen and dining space at the back, while a mouse-grey lounge by the shelf offers informal seating. Done up in cool grey, the powder room has a wooden counter and mirror.
A leather bed adds a masculine touch to the bedroom along with the large windows, which invites in natural light. A customized wallpaper of Mount Everest acts as the accent wallpaper behind the bed. A bold artwork lends vibrance to the neutral-colored study. Rustic-textured tiles in the shower areas are the highlight of the bathroom fitted with a dresser.
