Pen-nib logo for Chennai café

Photographer: Triple O Pixel

Chennai-based architecture and design firm Triple O Studio has designed the Writer’s Café kiosk collaboration with Higginbotham’s, India’s oldest bookstore. Located in Chennai’s biggest shopping mall, Phoenix Marketcity, it highlights a mini-Higginbotham’s library through its strategic positioning. The kiosk can be distinguished by its unique logo of a pen-nib, while the shell design resembles the letter W as in the logo.

An amalgamation of geometric patterns and colors has been derived from the logo, primarily black and white. Spread over 500 sq. ft., the project encompasses all the functional elements such as menu display, cooking, and billing. Wooden furniture has been used to complement the relaxed and cozy ambiance, and the fencing has been inspired by the W-shaped logo as well, which hints at the project name. Thus, the approach and seating layouts have been arranged in a clean, simple and practical layout.
