Au naturel treatment for 4-BHK Mumbai home
Mumbai-based architecture and design firm Space Design Group have designed the 4-BHK Residence at Wadala (East). The client brief was to create a space that is natural, simple, warm and gives a homely feel. Traditional artwork and natural materials and finishes were customized to complement the client’s lifestyle. Ar. Sanjiv Chowdhury and Des. Suchitra Chowdhury were the masterminds behind this project.
Using the principles of biophilia, wood, stone, and fabrics are customized for an earthy and sustainable feeling. Stone-cladding walls and naturally-polished wood furniture offer a non-visual connection to nature. Laser-cut screens in the puja room and parents’ room render a traditional touch to these areas.
The balcony area features a water cascade, radiating a calm and soothing feel. Traditional Lippan art using mirror, clay, and mud on the dining walls break the monotony. Mirrors in all rooms reflect natural and artificial light to give an expansive look to the areas. A play of lighting pattern is created to hold one’s attention yet spread positive and relaxing vibes.
