Mumbai firm designs smart street furniture

Designed by Studio Osmosis Architects, Plonc is a street furniture module that acts as comfortable seat for the public and facilitates the greening of public spaces on a budget. Solar panels atop power the light source on the roof, making it sustainable.
Plonc can be used in commercial public spaces like malls, food courts and hospitals to enhance certain circulation areas thereby making them sustainable. Planters added to the module beautify the street scape. Plonc withstands outdoor elements and thus has low maintenance. Breaking the generic style of street furniture, the design is modular, enabling it to be arranged in a number of permutations and combinations. There is a possibility of expansion in terms of length as well area, depending on site conditions.
