Modern interiors surrounded by natural greenery for Bengaluru villa
Bengaluru-based design consultancy firm RSP Design Consultants (India) Pvt. Ltd. designed the Under the Sun residential villa project, nestled amidst a myriad mix of 2650 fully-grown fruit yielding trees alongside a protected lakebed. The surrounding vegetation adds character to the form and massing, which enhances the contemporary language of the entire structure.
The villa is surrounded by lush greenery, which reminds one of a rejuvenating tropical eco-retreat. Designed with clean modern lines, one is welcomed in by a naturally-ventilated entrance foyer that provides panoramic vistas of the adjacent orchard. The living room is carefully positioned around the sleekly-done-up courtyard, which welcomes in the outdoor setting with sliding-folding doors. Special emphasis is given on family spaces that support interaction between the family members, which are brightened up with large windows and roof-lights that flood the house with natural light. The functional façade finishes allow for a delightful interplay of hues and textures. As importantly, the interiors spell understated luxury and exclusivity with meticulous attention to detail and handpicked choice of material and fitments.
Under the Sun aims to achieve the LEED Platinum certificate, due to its green building strategies. The existing trees are maintained, which promises extensive cross ventilation, enhanced daylight, and fresh-air ventilation. While the upper levels maximize the pleasant daylight from the north, east and west, the terrace and landscaped extensions enable one to enjoy the orchard. The master plan includes a water harvesting system as well, such as utilizing an existing perennial well to collect water run-off. Every unit is fitted with a water-supply and replenishment system to minimize the wastage of water and to utilize rainwater harvesting systems, while processed wastewater from the sewage treatment plant supports irrigation needs for all the landscaping.
