Dehradun Railway Station re-developed for easy connectivity
New Delhi-based GPM Architects & Planners are spearheading the redevelopment of tourism-magnet Dehradun’s railway station area.
Dehradun has witnessed a spurt of infrastructural development in the recent years. The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MMDA) and the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) are re-developing the Dehradun railway station spanning 24.5 acre. This is expected to ease traffic in nearby areas as well.
The project necessitated upgraded passenger amenities, parking space provisions and proper entry/exit facilities and, also, connectivity to the major roads within the vicinity of the station. Keeping in with multi-modal development, a second connection from the western side would be built to reduce the traffic. There are plans to engage in a mixed-use development strategy for a walkable neighborhood and efficient transportation connectivity as well.
The Dehradun railway station complex would undergo the necessary transition to achieve its goal as a commercial hub for passenger-centric development. Moreover, it would also open up an experiential gateway for users who move to this rapidly-developing capital.
