An intermingling of colour palettes and lighting for Bengaluru residence
Bengaluru-based architecture and design firm Alex Jacob Architects designed the Siraj Residence in the city of Alluva, Kerala. The design combines both style and substance with optimal usage of space, mood lighting, water, and landscape ensuring natural ventilation at the same time.
Sloping roofs with large overhangs have been constructed to adapt to the humid and rainy climate, and the exterior finishes have been chosen to blend in with the natural environment. Large windows to the north allow the natural light to sweep in, while the south-western have minimum openings to reduce heat. A skylight shaft opens up the rooms, making them more spacious. The interiors embody sophistication and contrast from the choice of color palette, finishes, and installations.
The rooms and their themes have been designed according to the individuals. Water bodies and the glass bridge linking the family and dining spaces provide the much-needed element of surprise. The living room, family room, dining room, and lower room are free-flowing spaces. The lighting complements the color palette to create a warm ambiance.
